An affiliate is a business partner of Three Rings Design. They may provide public support for Puzzle Pirates such as advertising, download, foreign language support, or more. For example, Steam is an electronic game distribution platform, for which the Puzzle Pirates client has special hooks and extensions to coexist with the proprietary Steam client.
