Note: The chain is a similar concept, often confused with combo.

A combo, short for combination, is the act of getting two or more clears simultaneously. It is very important in bilging, but less important in swordfighting, navigation, and sailing. Notices for more valuable combos are larger than those for less valuable combos.

In bilging, high-level combos are given special names similar to those of chains, as follows:

• 3 clears at the same time: Bingo
• 4 clears at the same time: Sea Donkey
• 4 clears at the same time including two 5-piece clears: Vegas
