Doubloons are one of two forms of currency used in Doubloon oceans. Doubloons can only be brought into the economy when a player buys doubloons from Three Rings with their credit card, PayPal account, or by check. When doubloons are spent, they are removed from the game. On the special servers that use doubloons, Three Rings collects no subscription fee and earn their pay through doubloons instead.
Doubloons can be traded with other players for PoE through the doubloon exchange at the bank. With the exception of the very early days of the Viridian Ocean where PoE was very scarce, doubloons have typically been worth about 1000 PoE each on the exchange. At their highest point of value to date, doubloons were worth approximately 2500 PoE. A single doubloon is currently worth roughly 1200 PoE, although the price fluctuates slightly.
