Gems can sometimes be bought from commodities markets around the ocean. They can also be found by foraging at uncolonized islands. Gems can be sold for 1000 PoE each, but only at the market at the capital island of the archipelago that shares the name of the gem. The cost to purchase a gem at a market depends on the distance from the market that will buy it. Periodically, a different gem type will spawn all across the ocean. A gem disappears from the ship's hold if left unattended for ten to fifteen minutes. This feature only exists in the Midnight Ocean.
