Greeter

From Puzzle Pirates

A Greeter is a pirate who volunteers to help new players. Greeters' names appear pink to new players, but appear yellow to established players (preventing the pink name from being used as a status symbol.) Greeters answer questions, give suggestions, and sometimes run events for new players. They are selected for their high level of experience with Puzzle Pirates, their patience, and their interest and ability to explain the game to new players.

Players with a serious interest in volunteering should contact an OceanMaster.

[edit] Greeter Secrecy and Myths About Greeters

Greeter status is private — greeters are known only to other greeters, greenies, and OceanMasters.

  • Greeters do not have the power to create greeter status for anyone else by themselves. There is no point in asking - period. Greeters are chosen by OceanMasters. While greeters may not have the power to make another player a greeter, they do have veto rights. One veto is enough to stop someone from becoming a greeter.
  • Greeters do not have special banning or shunning privileges. They have the same blackspot capability as the rest of the ocean.
  • Greeters do not have access to /complains. Those go to the OceanMasters.
  • Greeters do not have access to any accounts except their own. They cannot lookup accounts, nor retrieve any information from them whatsoever.
  • Greeters cannot magick up anything, unlike OceanMasters.
  • Greeters sometimes try to hold tournaments and events for greenies only, so the new players have a chance to win things sometimes. When a greeter (or anyone else for that matter) tells you "this is a greenie only tournament", please remove yourself from the competition and give the new players a chance to play against each other on a similar skill level.
