Midnight blockade history

From Puzzle Pirates

This is a brief history of blockades in the Midnight Ocean.

Blockade winners are indicated in bold. All blockades without defenders (uncolonized) are sinking. All blockades with defenders (colonized) are non-sinking unless noted otherwise. All dates represent the day (in PST/PDT timezone) that the first round began. Only official contenders and defenders are listed. Contenders' allies are not listed, nor are unallied defenders.

Before 2004-12-11, blockades ran a maximum of 12 rounds. A contender needed 7 rounds to win the island. Once it became mathematically impossible for any contender to win, the blockade ended. For example, if the defender won 6 rounds, the blockade was over.

Starting 2004-12-11, blockades run for a maximum of 5 rounds. A contender needs 3 rounds to win the island.
