Pieces of Eight, or PoE, are the basic currency of Puzzle Pirates. PoE can be earned by pillaging, working at and running shoppes or stalls, wagering on multiplayer puzzles, winning events, and trading commodities.
PoE can be used to purchase a variety of goods including clothing, swords, ships, stalls, commodities, portraits and all kinds of other in-game items. PoE can also be wagered and lost on multiplayer puzzle games, and can be lost in battles with brigands or PvPs while pillaging.
On doubloon oceans, PoE can also be used to trade for doubloons.
A note on plurals: A pirate with 1 PoE has a "Piece of Eight." A pirate with 9 PoE has several "Pieces of Eight." A pirate never has PoEs.
