Talk:Chain
From Puzzle Pirates
(Update: This comment is now obsolete now that the article has been moved from "combo" to "chain".) Nice article. Unfortunately, the this is the definition of a chain, not a combo.
A combo breaks multiple things at once, such as a bingo in bilge. A chain breaks things in a long series of breaks, such as a bingo during a swordfight. Good bilging is all about the combos [1]. Sailing [2] and swordfighting [3] are scored mostly on chains.
Of course, it's quite easy to mix these terms up--even the Ringers do this from time to time (see the sailing page for a use of '"Double!" combo' when they meant '"Double!" chain', etc.). --Trazz 20:17, 15 Jul 2005 (UTC)
- I think that the simplest way to fix this is to move the article to "Chain" and change all instances of the word combo in this article to chain. In fact, I just did it now--Zyborg 20:53, 15 Jul 2005 (UTC)
[edit] List of Chain Names
Sailing, Swordfighting, Bilging (sort of), and maybe some others have a similar naming system for chains, from Double to Vegas^n. Should we put this in the article, or is the naming system not used in enough puzzles to justify that?--Zyborg 20:53, 15 Jul 2005 (UTC)
